Long time no see. :D <3 Sorry for the long delay on the latest updates. 2018 has been a totally crazy year for everyone in regards to real life activities and projects so MineTrek has been a little less active than usual, but on the backend things have been progressing quite far this year. Here are some of the great updates and things to look forward to in 2019 and beyond.
The biggest change by far has been the complete overhaul from scratch of the server system itself. The server have moved from the old Spigot/Bukkit subsystem to the Forge/Sponge subsystem. This has allowed the server to go fully modded for the first time ever. This is increasing the MineTrek communities ability to expand our creative potential many times over when it comes to build complexity and block choices among other options.
Some of the highlights of the new modded system are: Chisels and Bits, LittleTiles, FlatColoredBlocks, MineTrekMod.
As just mentioned many thanks to the massive help of mdta created the foundation for the new and massively expandable MineTrekMod. This has allowed us to add a few hundred new blocks with many more on the way as time permits. This will allow us to greatly expand the visual accuracy, complexity and beauty of the builds to the next level going forward.
The server is now a very stable 1.12.2 system and as we move into 2019 we will be looking at the huge update that is 1.13+ hopefully coming later in the year as everything settles down.
As for the ships. Atro has finished the phase 2 pass of the new Enterprise-D build. She is looking absolutely gorgeous. The next phase is to begin the hull aztecing and detailing sometime in the new year as well as doing another pass through the decks and adding the plethora of new blocks in the new MineTrekMod designed for greater detailing of the ENT-D.
The Enterprise-E and Lumi-B have been suspended in favor of a new Enterprise-E build with a new more accurate and cleaned up hull. ShadowApler77 has done a marvelous job of beginning the hull detailing process and she is coming along very nicely. The previous two builds will be used as guideposts to make an even better design than before as we continue to revamp and redo various ship builds with the new community standards and build resources with the mods.
Preliminary work has also begun on the new Vesta and Century Classes. We have also begun to start the build process for various new Star Trek Discovery ship designs, including the new Discovery Enterprise 1701.
The next big phase for the server now that the server system is completely redone is we are working on creating a brand new server map that better reflects our new direction forward and will allow us to grow far more than we have so far. The new map will be larger and follow a new ship arrangement of the server assets. Also I have begun the work of recalculating and refining the ship scalar metric to be more accurate and inline with the Enterprise-D and other flagship builds as well as utilizing new more accurate build meshes also.
As we move into 2019 the updates and changes coming in 2019 has me and so many of the MineTrek Community excited and I hope everyone enjoys what is to come. More news will be posted as they occur into the new year.
Some side notes: The new modded server will require a large modpack and specific install instructions in order to access the server going forward. Everything has been laid out in two main sites. Home.MineTrek.net and Forums.MineTrek.net.
A lot more info has been put there than will be included here but basically download the full modpack and extract on desktop and install the forge provided for your Minecraft client and install the mods and java parameters. More detailed instructions are provided in the modpack zip file.
Also the current server hardware is starting to get old approaching 8 years old at this point of constant operation. I am looking into building a new more powerful server system in 2019 to run the server going forward for the next many years. Please consider this holiday season to donate to the MineTrek Community GoFundMe donations page. Any amount will be helpful as I begin the component research for the new server build. Let’s get to the initial $1000 goal and stretch beyond that to help fund the new system. <3 <3 <3
